Reactivating an Inactive Location

Note: This feature is available only to users with administrative permissions.

Reactivate an inactive location when it comes back into use. After being reactivated, the location becomes available for new product assignments and location-based searching and reporting. If the location contains any sub-locations that were active when it was set inactive, these sub-locations are automatically reactivated as well.

When a location is set inactive, it is given a "date out of use" to indicate when products stopped being used/stored there. This date is displayed to any user viewing a product that was assigned to the location before it became inactive. When an inactive location is reactivated, all assigned products retain this "date out of use". To record that a product is once again used or stored at the newly active location, you must edit the product's locations and remove the assignment's "date out of use."

To reactivate an inactive location:

Starting at the Location Tree page (How do I get there?), do the following:

  1. Find and select the inactive location you want to reactivate. (If a location shows a plus (+) next to its name, you can click its name to open its immediate sub-locations.)

Note: Each inactive location is shown in gray with (Inactive) next to its name. If a location is shown in gray without (Inactive) next to its name, this is a sub-location under an inactive parent location; this sub-location will be reactivated automatically when its inactive parent is reactivated.

  2. In the box on the left, click Reactivate.

A message indicates what will happen when this location is reactivated.

  3. To confirm, click Save.

The location is reactivated. It and its sub-locations are now available for new product assignments and for location-based searching and reporting.
